Insertable Loop Recorder (ILR)
This small device is used to diagnose unexplained recurrent fainting, or symptoms such as palpitations, light-headedness and dizziness. During a minor surgical procedure, the ILR is inserted beneath the skin. It continuously monitors your heart and records its rate and rhythm. By holding a device over the ILR, your doctor can download the information recorded by the ILR to a computer and print an electrocardiogram. Your doctor will review the information to determine the cause of your problem.
